As we start the new camping season its all the time good to tell some tips on keeping dry. Nothing makes a campout more unbearable than getting your gear all soggy! Although most population camp while the summer months when it's warm and dry there are times while the season when you will get rain. But, fear not! Here are some tips to staying dry that I have learned from my 25+ years camping with the Boy Scouts.
Tip #1
Childrens Raingear
o Did you use seam sealer on your tent? Remember to seal all tent seams on an each year basis. buy some "fresh" sealer from a sporting goods or camping store. while your first outing in the spring, re-seal all your seams with a liberal whole of sealer.
Tip #2
o Are you putting a ground sheet or cloth under your tent when you camp? It's not just enough to put the ground sheet under the tent, you've got to tuck the edges under the tent so when it rains the water will not get on the ground sheet and run under the tent. :-(
So, if your rain fly is installed correctly, the seam sealer keeping and the ground sheet properly tucked under the tent you should be go to go! - at least from moisture getting into your tent.
Tip #3
o When inside the tent while a rainstorm, make sure your gear, sleeping bags, mattress, etc. Are not touching the tent walls. Why? Well, the tent walls and rain fly are designed to deflect the water droplets off the tent and onto the ground. If you upset this institute by putting your pack, sleeping bag or other gear against the wall, water will pool and soak straight through the tent wall!
I learned this the hard way! I was in a small tent and didn't realize that my sleeping bag was resting against the tent wall. while the night it rained and I slept straight through it. In the morning I had a wet spot at the foot of my sleeping bag and a puddle on the floor of my tent. :-(
Tip #4
o When you enter the tent after being out in the rain, take off your wet clothes and put them in a projection or at the front of your tent with your wet shoes. Some tents have a small vestibule that is ideal for this. By using this tip, you will "localize" all your wet gear and keep the other gear dry.
Tip #5
o Bring rain gear or a poncho. Ya, I know that sounds pretty obvious, but you'd be surprised at how many campers are ill prepared for rain. You can get a poncho at Target that will keep most of the rain out. I have a lightweight rain suit, top and pants that I found to be a lifesaver a whole of times. In a pinch, you can take a large, green garbage bag; cut three holes in it for your head and arms and it will keep you dry too! I know, my son does it all the time. He's so fashionable! :-)
If you are prepared and succeed these Tips you can enjoy even the most inclement of camping days. It can be fun to be inside the tent play a card game or reading a good book while you listen to the pitter, patter of the rain on your tent. Make some hot chocolate, tea or soup and enjoy!

Board games help families bond with one another and show children they can learn while having fun. Get your house excited by asking them if anyone would like to play a board game.
There are numerous board games on the shop today. Some beloved house games contain Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Clue and Scrabble. More modern board games contain Cranium, Break the Safe and Apples to Apples.
Just make sure the board game you chose is house kindly and one that your whole house will enjoy. Also, make sure the game is favorable for the age range of your children.
2. Put Together a Jigsaw Puzzle
Give your children some happy memories of the whole house sitting nearby and putting together a jigsaw puzzle. This performance can be both fun and inspiring for every member of the family.
Colorful jigsaw puzzles range from 100 to 500 pieces, so choose the one that suits your family's age group and puzzle experience.
3. Backyard Fun
For even more fun house game ideas, the excellent place is in your backyard. Here your house will have abundance of room to run, jump and play.
Enjoy playing a game of horseshoes, badminton or volleyball together. Let each house member throw yard darts and see who hits the bull's eye first. Other fun games you and your kids will enjoy are the old-fashioned sack race and the three-legged race.
Your kids probably have never heard of these, but they will love them.
Some house game ideas to enjoy while the hot summer months are water volley ball, water balloons and splash tag. These games will be great to play while the house is enjoying the nice, cool swimming pool.
Games are so much fun and a great way for your house to interact with one another. Your children will also get a thrill out of watching you participate.
4. Rainy Day Fun
On a cold, rainy day when your house is stuck inside, put together a house scrapbook. Let each house member pick out their beloved photos of vacations and other special events.
If your house is bored in the house, go bowling or visit a museum. Take a trip to the library and pick out books for each of you read later. Go shopping and let each house member pick out a small gift for a needy person in your community.
Even better, put on your rain gear and take a wander in the rain. Let your kids splash in the puddles. They will be amazed!!!
5. More house Ideas - Every slight Counts
Enjoy every slight you can with your family. If you are not in the mood for games, other ways you can spend ability time together is by flying a kite, throwing a Frisbee (Tm), riding bicycles together, go on a picnic at a park or just take a walk together and talk.
Have fun and remember, the house that plays together, stays together.
